🪐 Navgraha Shanti Pooja — Graha Dosha Nivarana & Planetary Blessings
Navgraha — Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Budha, Brihaspati, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu — these nine celestial forces govern every aspect of human life. According to Jyotish shastra, the placement, dasha and transit of planets in the birth chart determine their auspicious and inauspicious effects. Navgraha Shanti Pooja pacifies afflicted planets, removes graha doshas, strengthens beneficial planetary energies and brings health, prosperity, clarity and spiritual upliftment. Each planet is worshipped with its specific grain (nav-dravya), colour, flower and beej mantra, followed by the Navgraha Stotram composed by Sage Vyasa. The nav-dravya is then donated after the pooja — as a graha-specific act of humility and karma nivarana.

📿 Step-by-Step Vidhi
Begin with Bhagwan Ganesha — apply kumkum-akshat, offer pushp and modak. Invoke his blessings to remove obstacles from the pooja.
Establish the main Kalash with jal, aam-patte and nariyal. Invoke Varun Dev and the holy rivers for the pooja's sanctity.
Hold jal, pushp and akshat in the left hand. Speak your name, gotra, location, date, specific graha dosha and purpose of the pooja.
Meditate on all nine grahas and invoke their presence. Recite the Navgraha Dhyan mantra for collective planetary blessings.
Establish the 9 kalash or Navgraha yantra — each representing a planet in its designated direction and position.
Offer 16 upachar to all nine grahas in sequence — aasan, padya, arghya, snaan, vastra, gandha, pushp, dhoop, deep, naivedya and dakshina.
Offer each graha's special grain/dravya: wheat (Surya), rice (Chandra), masoor (Mangal), mung (Budha), chana (Guru), urad (Shani), til (Rahu), ghoda chana (Ketu).
Recite each graha's beej mantra 108 times on mala. Family may join silently. Surya: OM HRAAM HREEM HRAUM · Shani: OM PRAAM PREEM PRAUM.
Recite the Navgraha Stotram composed by Sage Vyasa — Japakusum Sankasham (Surya) through Tam Ketum Pranamamy Aham — for full planetary grace.
If performing havan: offer nav-samidha (9 specific woods) and nav-dravya into the fire with beej mantras — one swaha per graha.
Perform aarti together as a family — Om Jai Jai Navgraha Deva — offering the light of devotion to all nine planetary deities.
Offer pushpanjali to all nine grahas, recite kshama prayer and distribute prasad (nav-dravya may be donated to a brahmin, temple or those in need).
